No. There is a place to get online in town which is about a 10 minute drive. There is also no cable TV, but there is a large DVD collection. Are there any restaurants around? None that are very close. But there are a few decent ones in the neighboring town of Cornish which is about 20 mins away. Are there laundry machines in the house? Yes. Do we have to bring our own sheets and towels? No. There are plenty of sheets and towels in the house. Should we bring cookware or any small appliances? Probably not. The kitchen has most things of this nature (coffee machine, toaster, pots, pans etc.) but if you’re attached to your french press or kitchen aid mixer, by all means, bring it up. Is there a local swimming hole? Yes. Well...pretty close. Its about a 15-20 minute drive Can we bring pets? If Sam is working up there, usually the dog Lucy is there. She is pretty chill. Calm pets are welcome but keep in mind, the house is close to a road, there is lots of cables and gear on the floor in many rooms during a session etc. What else is near by? Not much. 80% of the town’s land is set aside for resourse conservation, forest and farms. However, New Hampshire’s White Mountains are not far making day trips to ski, hike etc. totally an option. It consists of a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, attached barn and an attached carriage house which has been converted into a 600 sq., 16’ ceiling live room. As a studio, GNSS was designed as a retreat style facility, where solo artists and bands can have plenty of time to explore ideas without feeling like they are quite as “on the clock” as many hourly rated studios. Though it is always growing, the studio houses a solid selection of high-end recording gear that is occasionally augmented with pieces artists rent or bring up on their own. This helps keep rates affordable and allows artists to get more time for their money. See gear listings for details. The house itself is a post and beam structure built in 1790 that still has many of its original wide floor boards, horse plaster walls and staircases. The attached three story barn is unfinished but sometimes used for recording. Similarly, the many rooms of the house are often put to use as tracking rooms. Two rooms have queen size beds and one room has two twin size beds. There are also two long couches (living room and control room) as well as plenty of room for aerobeds, sleeping bags etc. (there are a few up there to use) There are two full baths. The one upstairs features a large sized tub in addition to the shower. The downstairs bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower attachment. The heat for the house is mostly powered by its baseboards but there is an additional propane heater stove in the living room. The kitchen has most household appliances, glass wear, pots and pans etc. (for a detailed list, contact us) and there is a large outdoor grill for cooking as well. There is a washer and dryer for laundry.
